The generation model developed by Rijp en Groen is to be perceived as a paradigm, a coherent vision of the sociological, psychological, personal and societal aspects of generations. The generation paradigm cannot only illuminate various personal problems within generations, it can also provide insights to solve these problems. In addition the generation paradigm illustrates the importance of generations for each other and for the social cohesion within society, and provides an instrument for developing and restoring the relationship between generations. At the end of this text we will identify the six Dutch generations.
