SenVol – Senior Volunteering in Europe case study

SenVol – Senior Volunteering in Europe was a Grundtvig Learning partnership with the aim to exchange and gain experience from other countries in the field of volunteering. Project partners came from Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Spain and Austria. The project aimed to raise awareness for the importance of volunteering, of volunteering of older and younger people in different settings and cultures.

The project also highlighted the learning process that happens during volunteering and promoted the fact that older people have unique knowledge and lots of experiences and they can pass their knowledge to others, also to the younger generation. SenVol promoted the process of active ageing and gave older and younger volunteers an opportunity to share their knowledge, skills and experiences with others, on regional and European level, for a constant and better integration of volunteers in active life.

The target group were actively involved in the project and people were encouraged to participate in voluntary work in their region and European wide. During the project partners collected and reflected on good practice examples of volunteering and as main outcome “The SenVol booklet – Volunteering across Generations in Europe” for volunteers and volunteer organisations was developed. The booklet is available in EN, DE, IT, LT, ES, PL and RO on the project website.
