Themes

As one way of working, the EMIL network has decided to work within a number of subtopics (or themes) that network members are interested in exploring and feel should be considered in more detail.

Our thematic working groups aim to use an emergent process where we will continue to produce the more traditional inputs that other networks provide (ie. case studies, newsletters), but will also provide a process of dialogue for our members within the thematic groups. EMIL thematic groups are small in size (5-6 people) in order to establish stronger links between members and a sense of belonging to the wider network. Moreover, this innovative method of working together within a network provides a more effective way to deliver products and services to members.

EMIL thematic working groups produce short pieces of work which help to keep members updated and enables them to comment or collaborate if they wish. This also enables us to build a library of discussion topics as part of the project legacy. Working in this way builds on what members existing interests, making it easier to contribute.

Each month a thematic working group is responsible for a specific output such as those listed below:

  • Concept or position paper
  • Literature review
  • Review of a reading on a specific topic
  • Translational research
  • Key issues in the area
  • Policy brief
